Why Use TriQuint?

TriQuint is known as the premier GaAs foundry. Since 1985, we have dedicated the people and the resources necessary to produce GaAs integrated circuits from our customers' designs. We are dedicated to doing business by listening to our customers. With TriQuint, you will find:

  • A proven track record.
  • A long-term commitment to the foundry business.
  • Complete design support.
  • A comprehensive offering of manufacturing services.
  • Security of your intellectual property.
  • Plenty of production capacity.

More Than Just a Process

Working with TriQuint gives you access to high-performance GaAs process technologies. But more importantly, it puts you in personal contact with TriQuint's expert staff, who are experienced in guiding customers through design into finished IC products. For the design phase, we provide the tools, training and support you need to design your circuit and to accelerate your time-to-market.

There are three ways to design circuits using TriQuint's foundry services:

  1. Customer design
  2. Third-party design services
  3. Turn-key ASIC services managed by TriQuint

When you work with TriQuint, you optimize the product for your system and TriQuint helps you every step of the way to production.

More Than Just a Fab

Once your design is complete, TriQuint offers you a wide selection of IC manufacturing services — from wafer fabrication to test and plastic-packaged parts. Since our experience base is in making commercial products, our team works with you to productize your design quickly and inexpensively.

TriQuint offers complete post-fabrication services and product engineering services to help you manage the yield of your circuits and tested plastic-encapsulated ICs. Throughout the entire foundry experience, you have access to the people and resources of a volume IC manufacturer — regardless of your production volume.

Why Use a Foundry?

When your RF and high-speed, mixed-mode system requirements call for improved manufacturability, fewer component insertions, higher system yields and lower overall costs, it makes sense to integrate the functions into integrated circuits. If you have a strategy to produce your proprietary design in a fully custom IC, a full-service foundry provides the most direct path to implement your design. By replacing discretes or single function components in your high-volume application with a proprietary custom IC, you will realize competitive advantages through improved manufacturability, lower insertion costs and proprietary control of the design. With all of the design and production support of TriQuint's full-service foundry, implementing your custom RF or high-speed, mixed-mode IC is straightforward and cost effective.

Critical Success Factors

For your custom IC to succeed, your manufacturing partner needs to do more than just supply parts. It is important to develop person-to-person business relationships to smoothly carry your design through development into manufacturing. At TriQuint, you will find our team members strive to meet your needs in these areas:

  • Support for your design engineering team.
  • Accurate simulation models for reduced risk and quick design success.
  • On-time, on-budget delivery to meet your time-to-market needs.
  • Stable processing and reliable manufacturing.

Choosing IC Technologies

Each IC technology has a natural applicability, because of its inherent performance characteristics. Your job is easier if you use the technology where it fits naturally. Are you developing low-voltage mobile systems at 500 MHz or above? If not, it may be best to use silicon-based technologies. If you are, then you will find that integrated GaAs MesFET technology gives you competitive advantages in these key areas:

  • Better linearity and noise performance for better signal fidelity.
  • More gain at low voltages.
  • Better power efficiency for longer battery life.
  • Easier to design for faster time to market.
  • Higher levels of RF integration for lower system costs.

Your Reliable Manufacturing Partner

TriQuint is known, first and foremost, as a high-quality, large-volume IC manufacturing company. We also meet the quality and reliability standards for space qualification. Thus our commercial customers benefit from our experience as a high-reliability supplier and our high-reliability customers benefit from our high-volume, cost-effective commercial production capabilities.

Some of the reasons you can count on TriQuint for cost-effective, reliable, high-volume manufacturing are:

  • Economies of scale. Our cost structures are based on high production volumes.
  • Continual quality improvement. We use Statistical Process Control techniques to constantly improve manufacturing.
  • Consistently high yields. We use stable, high-yield GaAs processes that are well along the learning curve.
  • Wafers are guaranteed to spec. We guarantee compliance with TriQuint's published DC and RF Process Control Monitor test specifications.
  • Extensive characterization and publications. TriQuint's technical staff wrote the book on GaAs reliability.
  • ISO-9001 registered. We manufacture GaAs devices under a quality system that is ISO-9001 registered.
